Mary Vasiloff
VASILOFF, Mary (nee Seradoka), It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, on December 12th, 2018 at the age of 96. Mary was born on June 21st, 1922 in Tehliw, on Poland’s border (now Ukraine). Her family settled at the Marsh in Leamington in 1929 when she was seven years old. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Sam (with whom she was partners in the restaurant known as United Grill), her parents Michael & Sophia Seradoka, her sister Olga and her brother Boris. Mary will be forever missed by her daughters Victoria and Bonnie, and their husbands Velo and George. Infusing her with endless joy and pride were her grandchildren, Christopher, Lauralyn (Trevor), Gregory (Voula), Natalie (George), Zachary, Adele, Alexander and Jaxson. Our mom was very creative. She could crochet, do needle point, and make scrumptious cabbage rolls, perogies, zelnik, and strawberry shortcake. Mary was an avid reader; she loved mystery stories and encouraged her daughters to read and strive for excellence. She was informed and up to date on current events. Most of all, our mom was admired and respected by all who knew her because she was thoughtful, spirited, capable and humble. Mary attended St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church and later was a member of St. Nicholas Macedonian Orthodox Church and a proud member of Bouf’s Mutual Benefit Association of Windsor. As a family we were lucky to be immersed in the Ukrainian and Macedonian culture. The family would like to sincerely thank Meals On Wheels and the entire CCAC staff for their care and support. Visitation will be held at Janisse Funeral Home (1139 Ouellette Ave., 519-253-5225) on Sunday, December 16th, 2018 from 2-4:30 and 7-9pm, with Parish Prayers at 7:30pm. Funeral Service on Monday, December 17th, 2018 at 11am at St. Nicholas Macedonian Orthodox Church (5225 Howard Ave.) with Fr. Alexandar Mustenikov.
