GALLOWAY, NB – Mary Rita
Thompson Guimond of Galloway fell asleep in death on Sunday, November
11, 2018 at the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital,
Ste-Anne-de-Kent. Born in Indian Island, she was
the beloved daughter of the late Michael and Eunice (Clement)
Sock.
She leaves behind five daughters, Bernice (Doucet)
Thompson (Emile) of BC, Linda Murray (Wallace) of Shediac, Valerie
Carol Thompson of NFLD, Rita Lorraine Garrett (Paul) of Hillsboro,
Moriah Leblanc (Patrick) of Arizona; as well as six sons, Glen (Tena)
of Fredericton, Vernon (Nicole) of Galloway, Michael (Rhonda) of St.
Louis, Geoffrey (Jose) of St. Louis, Lorne of Galloway and Wayne (Amy)
of Riverview. She is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 31 great
grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews
and friends. She will be missed by her two brothers, Raymond (Mary) of
Elsipogtog, and Ronnie Sock of Milwaukee; as well as by her two
sisters, Margaret Babineau (Mike) of Minto and Elaine Bernard (Ivan)
of PEI.
She will be forever loved by her family to whom she
devoted her entire life, her many friends and the congregation of
Jehovah’s Witnesses where she chose to worship her loving
God Jehovah.
Mrs Thompson Guimond chose to be a stay-at-home mom
to raise her 14 children and protected them to her last
breath.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first
husband, George I. Thompson and her second husband Alphonse Guimond;
her three sons, Melvin Thompson, Nelson Thompson and Ken Thompson; her
two grandsons, Wesley M. Doucet and Dillon Ferguson; also leaving this
world too soon were her two brothers Francis and Richard Sock who both
died at a very young age and a sister, Janet Dedam
(Alfred).
Visitation will be held at Thompson’s
Funeral Home (33 Acadia St., Richibucto) on Thursday, November
15th, 2018 from 9:00am until the
funeral service at 1:00pm, Thompson’s Funeral Home Chapel,
which will be officiated by the Rexton Congregation of
Jehovah’s
Witnesses.
The Thompson-Guimond Family would like to extend a
heartfelt thank you to the wonderful nurses and doctors at The George
Dumont Hospital- Surgery Ward; the Stella Maris Hospital for caring
for our mother during her stay; the Indian Island First Nation for
providing help to our family during this time of distress and for
making it possible for family members from out of province to come
home to see her during her illness. Finally, we would like to thank
the members of the Rexton Congregation of Jehovah’s
Witnesses for all their prayers, hospital visits, flowers and cards
while our mother was in the hospital as well as the members of the
Patient Visiting Group from the Dieppe Congregation of
Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Parkton Congregation of
Jehovah’s
Witnesses.
