Mary Catherine “Gladys” Côté
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing on our Mother, Mary Catherine “Gladys” Côté (Stone). Born in St. Peters, Cape Breton on May 20, 1944 she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Eva Stone.
She was predeceased by her husband, noted fiddler Gordon Cote and her
siblings Vernon, Gordon, Wayne and Sharon Stone.
She is survived by her children Roger, Glenn (Kathy), Darrin, Anne, Dwayne (Lisa) and special daughter Carol Martell. Sisters: Fran Campbell, Mary Bennett, Carolyn Stone, and Gail Kelly (Larry) and her brother Joseph Stone (Gloria)
Grandchildren: Jeremy Stone, Branden, Nick and Nathan Cote as well as several beloved great-grandchildren and as well as many nieces and nephews.
Gladys in her youth attended the Gaelic College and was a noted step dancer and dance instructor. She was also a hairstylist and owned her own business.
She and Gordon passed on their love of music and culture to their talented children, also gifted musicians.
Gladys will be remembered as a kind and loving person, a friend to all and for her sense of humour.
We would like to express a special thank you to the nurses, caregivers and staff of Richmond Villa for the excellent care.
Cremation has taken place.
The Family will receive family and friends at the Richmond Villa in St. Peters on Friday, June 15th 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
Funeral Service Saturday June 16th at St. Peters Catholic Church St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church at 10:30am with Father Antolin Asor officiating, burial to follow in the Parish Cemetery.
The Family request that Memorial Donations to be made Richmond Villa which she thought of as her home.
