Martin Kuipers
Martin KUIPERS called to his eternal home from Maitland Manor Goderich on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the age of 87. Born, February 19, 1931 in Aduard, Groningen, the Netherlands, he will be loving remembered by his family – John and Cory Kuipers of Goderich: Corry Kuipers-Simard of Wyoming Ont; Jake and Deb Kuipers of Humbolt, Sask; Sister: Sadie Mosoronchon of Calgary Patti Gratton (special family, friend) Goderich. Grandchildren Charleen and Harry Bakker, Pam and Jody Kuipers; LeeAnn and Chris Bell, Chris and Mike Simard; Justin and Arianna (Jamie) Kuipers; Step Grandchildren Carissa and Will McWhirter, Anthony Alcorn. Great Grandchildren – Jacob, Jessica and Kaitlyn Bakker; Connor Bell; step great-grandchildren, Taylor and Mariah McWhirter; And his “special Maitland Manor Family”. Predeceased by his daughter Jeannette (2013) and spouse, Martha (2016); Sister, Cathy Taylor (2013), Brother Mark (Jan 2018). Also remembered by brothers and sisters in law in the Netherlands and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Martin’s family immigrated to Brooks, Alberta in 1948 where he married Martha in 1954, when she immigrated to Canada.
The family farmed in Alberta till 1964, and then moved to Bowmanville where he was caretaker of the Christian School. Then in 1969 they farmed in Colborne Township till 1986, when they moved into Goderich, where Martin was caretaker of North Street United Church and St. Peter’s Catholic Church, at that time he also painted at numerous businesses and residences.
Martin loved to spend time with his family, and he especially loved children. He enjoyed Goderich’s waterfront, and country drives.
Family will receive friends at Trinity Christian Reformed Church,
245 Mill Rd. Goderich, on Saturday October 6, 2018 at 11AM until time of Celebration of Life at 12PM. Donations to the Alzheimer Society of Huron County gratefully acknowledged.
