Marie Antoinette Charles, beloved wife of the late Arthur Charles, of Wawota, Saskatchewan, passed away at Deer View Lodge, Wawota, on
Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the age of 94 years.
Funeral Mass from the Wawota Town Hall, Wawota, on Saturday, July 21, at 11:00 a.m. wit Fr. Noel Boulanger officiating. Interment will be in Dumas Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Deer View Lodge, in her memory.
Marie Antoinette Adelphine L’Arrivee eldest daughter of Antoine and Exilia (Boulanger) L’Arrivee, was born in the country farm house in Dumas on October 17, 1923. After completing her education and receiving her teachers certificate from Normal School she taught at Duramus School from 1943-1947, when she married Arthur Charles on April 26, 1947. Antoinette taught in Dumas from December 1955- June 1962 when the school closed. Antoinette and Arthur raised four children; Raymond, Roland, Dianne, and Michelle. They moved from Dumas to the original farm and continued farming until Arthur passed away suddenly on November 18, 1976. Antoinette and Michelle moved to Wawota that winter where she continued to raise Michelle.
Antoinette was very active with her hobbies which included sewing, dancing and oil painting. She remained active in the community with 4-H projects, Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and the Catholic church.
She was predeceased by her parents Antoine (1980)and Exilia (1994), Arthur in 1976, brothers Fernand (2011), Lionel (2012), sister-in-law Betty (2010), and grandson Michael Bunz (2014).
She is survived by her children Raymond (Laurel) Charles, Roland (Bonnie) Charles, Dianne (Allan) Bunz, and Michelle (Gene) Luscombe, Sister Anita (Fabien) Carpentier, sister-in-law Sylvia L’Arrivee, grandchildren Niki Leggett, Korri (Mike) Ciuca, Geoff (Luanne) Charles, Wade Charles, Cayley (Tom) Hamilton, Jolie (Aron) Morton, Mallory (Matthew) Olson, Kelsie Luscombe, and Courtney Luscombe, 12 great grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
