On June 13, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at St. Joseph’s Hospital, was taken to rest into the loving arms of Our Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Anthony, at the age of 90. Predeceased by her beloved husband Berardino. Mafalda was a devoted mother and mother in law to Joseph, Frank, Mary and Sergio. A very proud Nonna to Matthew, Julia, Alexander, Vincent, Daniela, and Amanda. Predeceased by her parents Domenica and Antonio Contasti and siblings from Intermesoli, Italy. Mafalda was always happiest when her grandchildren were around, spoiling them with much love and preparing their favourite food. She had a big heart always thinking of others less fortunate by donating to charities and always picking up food items for the local food bank. Many thanks for the wonderful staff and care Mafalda received at St. Joseph’s Hospital during her brief illness. Visitation at MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Sunday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church, 200 Mount Albion Road, on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 10 am. Private family interment. In lieu of flowers, donations to any charity or food items to local Food Bank would be appreciated.
