OBITUARY
Louise McVeigh
April 22, 1928 – July 30, 2018
Mary “Louise” McVeigh – Age 90 of Digby, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on July 30th, 2018 at The Madeline Assisted Living, Upper Hammonds Plains.
Born in Inverness, Cape Breton she was one of 18 children born to Francis and Anna (Boudreau) Lefort. She enjoyed her work as a nursing assistant at St Martha’s in Antigonish prior to marrying the love of her life Robert (Bob) McVeigh. Louise was a member of the CWL and the church choir for several years at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Digby; she was a Brownie leader and a volunteer at the Digby Food Bank for well over 25 years. Louise was an avid bowler and her competitive side would shine during a 45’s card game with Mary, Ron and Bob. She enjoyed her many years of selling Avon and gaining new friends in the Digby area; she cherished her cat Sophie, who passed two years ago.
Louise is survived by her sons Kevin of The Pas, Manitoba; Stephen of Toronto, ON; Richard (Pattie Doucette) of Lunenburg, NS, her daughter, Mary (Ron) Pitcher of Mt. Pearl, NL; and daughter in-law, Rebecca (Trask) of Grafton, ON; sisters, Hilda (Halifax NS), Anne (Trenton ON), Dorothy (Que); brother Charles (BC); grandsons, Patrick McVeigh, Michael McVeigh, Brent Pitcher, Jacob Pitcher and Justin Neigh and great-granddaughters, Kaylin McVeigh and Julia Pitcher. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Bob; sons, Frankie and Robbie.
Mom loved her beautiful hometown of Digby, NS where a Celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory can be made to Digby Food Bank or Feed Nova Scotia.
We would especially like to thank Jillian and her wonderful staff at The Madeline for making our mom feel like part of their family. Your care, support and love will not be forgotten.
