Lorne Allister “Al” Putnam
1935-2018
Lorne Allister “Al”
Putnam – 82, Bible Hill, passed away Thursday,
October 11, 2018, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born
in Lower Onslow, he was the son of the late Lewis and Mary
(McFetridge) Putnam.
Al was employed for 39 years with Royal Bank of Canada,
moving to Bible Hill upon his retirement in 1992. During his banking
career, he was attached to a number of branches throughout the
Maritimes. He was Manager of several branches including Bathurst (NB),
Truro, Saint John (NB) and Charlottetown (PE) where he was also
Regional Manager for Prince Edward Island. He was involved in many
organizations during his career including Board of Trade, QEH
Foundation, Junior Achievement, Governor General, Canadian Study
Conference, Chamber of Commerce and a number of charitable
organizations, golf and curling clubs.
Al is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan (Bonnar);
daughters, Judith Ann, Truro; Karen Elizabeth (JP Brosseau), Halifax;
sons, Brian (Karen), Halifax; Bradley (Lucy), Calgary; eight
grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. Private interment will be
held in Bible Hill Cemetery, Keith Selwyn-Smith officiating. If so
desired, donations in Al’s memory to Alzheimer Society of
Nova Scotia are welcomed.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Private messages of
