Obituary of Lilly Olynik
LILLY OLYNIK
(nee Ludwig)
January 3, 1923 – December 1, 2018
Lilly peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, after many years of chronic illness. Devoted wife of her late husband John Olynik; loving mother of daughter Teresa (John Birznieks). Caring sister of Alma Bauer. Predeceased by her parents Adolph and Emily Ludwig; her sisters Marta Ludwig and Linda Held; and her brother Bert Ludwig. Kind aunt to Peter Held and other family.
Throughout her life Lilly learned to speak 7 languages, enjoyed cooking, sewing, needlepoint embroidery, spending time with friends and family, reminiscing about her many life experiences. These included nursing during WWII, going outdoors to enjoy nature, pet care, gardening, wearing the colour red, and having a strong, resilient faith in God.
The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Thursday, December 6th at 12:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at York Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Road, North York, Toronto.
