1935 – 2018
Lester passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Estevan Regional Nursing Home, Estevan, SK at the age of 82 years. Lester was born on a farm near Creelman, SK to Lillian (née North) and Max Laird on November 15, 1935. Lester enjoyed farming and farmed his family homestead since he was 15 years old as well as raising cattle. He owned and worked in road construction, snow plowing, grain hauling and even worked on the oil rigs for 25 years all while he continued to farm. He enjoyed going to farm sales, his pets, visiting at home with family and anyone who met Lester always remember him as a wonderful and kind man.
Lester married Marjorie A. Crozier on November 5, 1960 and together they raised a family of 4 children, son Carter (Heather) Laird, Stoughton, SK and their children, Davson and Avery, son Steve (Marie) Laird, Calgary, AB and their children Riane and Claire, daughter Jeanine (Don) Hall, Melfort, SK and their children, Crystal and Nicole, daughter Earla (Jami) Turner, Stoughton, SK and their children, Brittney (Chris) and Dylan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Lester was predeceased by his grandparents, Albert and Mary North; parents, Max Laird and Lillian Newman.
A special Thank you to all the staff at the Estevan Regional Nursing Home for your care and compassion you showed Lester and our family.
It was Lester’s wish that there be no service.
In memory of Lester, memorial donations may be made to STARS Air Ambulance (Designate to Saskatchewan STARS), 1414 Aviation Park NE, Box 570, Calgary, AB, T2E 8M7.
