Leo Francis White 2018

Peacefully at home on Friday, February 9, 2018, at the age of 91. Beloved husband of Mary for 65 years. Cherished father of Debra (Peter), Stella (Peter), Bernadette, Joanne (Doug), Barrie, Paula (Brent). He will be fondly remembered by his 13 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Leo was born in Kinkora, Ontario, the youngest of seven children to Ann and George White. Leo always loved to return to the family farm and share memories with his brothers. Leo left the farm to finish high school at St. Jerome’s in Kitchener and then to the London Normal School. After joining his two brothers in a family meat business, he settled in London and embarked on a career in the insurance industry with Prudential Life Assurance Company. Over his 44-year career, Leo was passionately committed to his clients, providing financial and estate planning. More than once, he joked that he never worked a day in his life. Leo’s fastball career spanned six decades. By the time he retired from the Knights of Columbus fastball team in 1990, he was playing with the sons of former teammates, who were also unable to hit his unorthodox delivery. Leo will be dearly missed by friends, former colleagues, and old teammates. His sense of humour is legendary, but it was his love of people and community and especially his family that will always be remembered. Cremation and private family interment has already taken place. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 11:00 am, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church at 511 Cheapside Street, London. In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation to London Food Bank or Sisters Place can be made.
