It is with great sadness the Legge family announce the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend: Lawrence Russell Legge. Larry, who was born June 15, 1943, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family and friends after his short battle with cancer on December 20, 2018. He was known for his generosity of time and skills; was a selfless man who helped stranger and friend alike; and loved to sit at his table with company telling stories over a good bottle of scotch. Larry has worked at a variety of jobs over the years. He was a miner, farmer, fisherman, carpenter, plumber, welder, boat builder, electrician and mechanic. He will be profoundly missed by friends and relatives and especially by his best friend Lady. Larry will be forever remembered by his wife Verna (Banfield), daughters Charlene (George) and Deana (John), and son Ryan (Joanne). He was known as Larry, Dad Legge and Ooey to his grandchildren, and Grand Dad to his great grandchild. His grandchildren are Michael (Deanna), Barry, Heather (Cameron), Bradley (Lindsey), Megan, Colin, Jonathon, Ryder, Gabriel, Abby and Liam. He will be missed by sisters Lillian (Mike), Gloria (Scott), Rosemary, and brothers George (Ruby), Donald (Christine), Kevin (Dianne), Sean (Alma) and sister-in-laws Ivy (George), Barbara, Glenda (Angus), and brother-in-laws Lewis, Alvin and Reg along with many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Tolbert and Grace (Butt) Legge, by brothers Danny, Ned and Dean as well as his mother and father in-law Lewis and Mabel Banfield, sister-in-laws Lorna, Olive and Rose, and brother in-laws David and Roy along with nephew Clayton. The family would like to thank those who have supported them over the past months with special thanks to Dr. Francois Atallah, Wendy Squires, Deanne Madore and Stephanie Alexander whose kindness and professionalism meant a lot to our family. Visitation for family and friends will be at St. Joseph’s Church, Heatherton, Saturday, December 22 between 7-9 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held 2:30 P.M. on Sunday, December 23rd at St. Joseph’s Church, Heatherton with a gathering for friends and family to follow at the Heatherton Hall. A Memorial service will take place at a later date.
