In Loving Memory
HARTMAN, Lambertus ‘Bert’
Formerly of Meaford, Bert passed away peacefully in his sleep
at Winbourne Park Long Term Care in Ajax on Monday,
November 12, 2018, at the age of 94. Born on September 13, 1924,
in Zwolle, The Netherlands, one of 13 children of the late Evert
and Marie (nee Meiberg) Hartman. Bert was predeceased by
his first wife Ludovika “Lien” Konkelaar of Ajax in 1984 and
also predeceased by his second wife Corrie Vanderhulst of
Meaford in 2017. He was the loving father of Marianne Holden
(Grant), Ludyann Gibson (Wayne), Patricia Cox (Wade) and
Yolanda Pigden (Steve). He will be fondly remembered by Corrie’s
children, Jane, Art, Bert and Connie and their Families. Bert
was Opa to 26 grandchildren and Great Opa to 24 great-
grandchildren. Bert made the decision to emigrate from
the Netherlands to Canada in 1954 with the belief that
he could build a prosperous, fulfilling future for his family
and for that his daughters heartily thank him because he
did succeed.Bert loved music, nature and camping. He
loved to tinker with cars (especially Fords!), fix things
and to help in the Riverside Greenhouse.He will be fondly
remembered by the Dutch Community in Pickering Village
and as a past Choir Director for 25 years at St. Francis de
Sales Church when it was located on Church Street. Visitation
will be held at McEachnie Funeral Home, Ajax on Friday,
November 16, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated
at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, in Ajax,
on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. A private
family service of committal and interment will be conducted
later that afternoon. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the
Cancer Society or the Sick Children Hospital Foundation
is appreciated by the family.
