On a beautiful Easter morning, when heaven was rejoicing the risen Christ, a beloved soul was called to join the celebrations with our Lord. Dr. Michael King passed away on Easter Sunday, April 1st, 2018, in his 82nd year. Loving and devoted husband of Patricia King (née Fisher) for 55 years. Loving father of Scott King (Kathy) of Port Coquitlam, BC and Jennifer Horton (Darren) of Vineland, Ontario. Cherished grandfather of Isabella King and Sarah, Michael and Jessica Horton. Brother of Peter King (Terry), David King (deceased 2006), Raina King and Patricia King Moffatt (George). Son of the late Dr. Ralph and Frances King. Michael will be missed by many family members and friends. Michael was born in St. Michael, Barbados, and came to Canada in 1954 to attend McGill University to study medicine. He graduated in 1960 and did his internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London, where he met the love of his life. Michael began his practice in 1962 as a family physician. He provided comprehensive and compassionate care to all his patients and visited them in their homes until the day he retired. Michael also served as Chief of Staff at Marian Villa and St. Mary’s Hospital for several years. In their retirement, Michael and Patricia spent many years returning to their beloved island in the sun where they enjoyed the company of many cherished friends. Special thanks to Dr. Dale Wilson, Dr. Daniel Kreuzer, Dr. Marco Mura, Dr. Kirk Hamilton, and members of the EDITH team. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London where the memorial service will be conducted on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. In honour of Dr. Michael King, donations to St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation, London or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
