Kevin James Burton
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our father, son, grandfather, brother and friend Kevin James Burton, 48, on September 14, 2018, in Edmonton, Alberta.
Kevin graduated from Sydney Academy in 1989. He worked for many years in the Wireless Communications Industry. In 2008, he attended the JVI Provincial Transportation and Safety Academy in Prince Edward Island, where he obtained his certification in Heavy Equipment. Kevin took great pride in his work as an operator and excelled as a supervisor as well as an instructor in numerous jobs throughout his career.
Kevin was always full of life and never turned down an opportunity to celebrate. He took pride in his children and grandchildren. He loved his family, and especially family gatherings. He also enjoyed being the “Cool Uncle” to his nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed hockey and a good round of golf.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Ralph and Patsy Burton, Marion Bridge, NS; his siblings, Betty (Rick) Deveaux, Sydney River, NS, Carol (Bryce) Allen, Charlottetown, PEI, Ross (Charlene) Burton, Stratford, PEI and his twin brother, Kalvin (Shelley Burton), Cornwall, PEI, and his nieces and nephews, Candice, Josh, Leah and Colton. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Nicole Burton (Lorne Carabin), Glace Bay, NS; former partner, Bobbi-Jo Hogan, Oyen, AB, and lifelong friend, KJ MacDonald, Sydney, NS.
Most of all Kevin will be missed by his daughter, Kayla (Cory) Burton-D’Andrea, Renfrew, ON; his son, Jordan (Crystal Hayward) Burton, Surrey, BC, and his grandchildren, Asher, Ryder, Levi and soon-to-be Baby Burton.
Kevin is predeceased by his brother, Glenn Gordon Burton (infancy); maternal grandparents, Leo and Cecilia Sampson, and paternal grandparents, Daniel and Isabelle Burton.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Kevin will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 from 11-1 p.m. at SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with a celebration of life to follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
