Obituary for Kenneth Ewen McDonald
KENNETH EWEN MCDONALD
(July 1, 1942 – April 10, 2018)
It is with shock and disbelief that we announce the sudden passing of our precious Husband, Dad, Grampa, and Friend at the age of 75.
Ken was predeceased by his parents Mary and Ewen, in-laws Bill and Eve Lumsden, Aunt Flora MacDonald, brothers-in-law Bill Lumsden Jr. and Jim Smith, and many other aunts and uncles.
Left to mourn his passing, cherished and loving wife Patricia (Pat) of 55 years, son Bill (Allison) McDonald, daughter Kim (Jim) Scott, dearly loved grandchildren Jim and Craig Scott and Melissa McDonald, along with dogs Mandy and Rocky, sister-in-law Jean Smith, niece Janine Smith and nephews Jim, Jeff (Shelley) Smith and many other family and friends.
Ken retired in Jan 1998 as District Chief (A) of the City of Winnipeg Fire Department and always said he loved his job to the end but loved retirement even more.
Ken will be remembered for his passion and enthusiasm in each and every aspect of his life. No matter what aspect of Ken’s life he was devoting his attention to: his career as a firefighter; curling and playing hockey with his lifelong friends; walking his beloved dogs; taking pictures of the scenery and wildlife around him; embracing the true meaning of lake life at Otter Falls; or simply having long unforgettable conversations with his family and friends, Ken was defined by his energy and excitement.
We’ll greatly miss your conversations during long walks, sharing joint successes and milestones, unforgettable road trip adventures and those very precious morning breakfasts but we know that these memories will be forever in our hearts and we love you.
If Ken touched your lives, please come and join us for a gathering of friends and family on Friday April 20, 2018 at 10:00 am at the East St. Paul Legion on 3600 Devries Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Firefighter Burn Fund, Salvation Army or a charity of your choice in Ken’s name.
