It is with sadness that we announce that Kenneth Andrew Gibson, 82 years old, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Georgian Bay General Hospital in Midland, Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel Kerr Gibson and Janet Gibson (nee Gillam), his beloved wife, Elsa Gibson (nee Ellsworth) and his dear son Barry Gibson. He will be deeply missed by his loving partner, Joan Dalziel and her family. Also left to cherish his memory are his three surviving sons: Bruce Gibson (Gail Ritchie) and Bruce’s two daughters Tara (Chris Oak) and their children Aidan and Jenna, Jonina (Brian Millis) and their children Katie and Kieran; Barry’s wife Lynne and their children Heather (Jason Young) and Tanyce; Darrell Gibson (Robyn) and their children Joshua, Tia, and Crystal; and Allan Gibson (Maria) and their children Anthony (Kayla Sheehan) and Branden and his daughter Lillian. He leaves behind many friends as well as extended family. Ken was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1936. He lived most of his life in Midland working as an accountant/bookkeeper. Many happy hours were spent “up the shore” on his cherished boats, the Dore, Kittiwake I and II! For several years he wintered in Florida. He had many enjoyable times with his friends at the Georgian Bay Swinging Seniors Club, socializing, dancing, playing pool and shuffleboard. Arrangements have been entrusted to LeClair Cremation Centre. A graveside gathering will be held at St. James-on-The-Lines Cemetery, 215 Church Street, Penetanguishene, Ontario, at 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 23. A reception to celebrate Ken’s life will follow from 1:00 to 4:00 in the Brian Orser Hall at the Penetanguishene Memorial Community Centre Arena, 61 Maria St. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
