Keith Lazenby 2018

Death Notice
Keith Lazenby
July 6, 1927 – Brantford, Ont.
April 13, 2018 – London, Ont.
After a valiant battle against old age, Keith Lazenby passed away Friday evening surrounded by loved ones. Predeceased by his father Harold Lazenby, mother Violet (nee Lymburn) and sister Bernice, Keith is survived by his cherished wife of 69 years, Pauline (nee Epplett), and beloved sons Bruce, Scott and Glen (and their respective wives, Diane, Deb and Laura) as well as his youngest brother Claude. He is also survived by his grand children Philippe, David, Victoria, Siobhan, Nicole, Quinn and Joel as well a multitude of extended family and friends. Keith was extremely proud and grateful for his children and grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to tell friends and strangers alike how lucky and proud he was of them all. Between his outgoing friendly nature and uncanny gift for remembering names, Keith was one of those popular, all-round nice guys who was always full of love, grace and strength.
His father died making Keith the oldest of three children at the age of 12. Too young to enlist in WWII, Keith was an Air Cadet rising to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer and spent two summers during the war doing farm service. After high-school, as a family bread-winner, he became a draftsperson at Bennett & Wright Contracting where he spent most of his career leaving as General Manager. Other jobs involved being a branch manager at Black & McDonald as well as at Young & Co. Fine Jewellery where he worked for 18 years. Throughout most of his working life, Keith was an avid Sunningdale Golf & Country Club member and an immensely active long-time Rotary Club member, an organization he adored and fully supported. During his tenure, Keith was president and was a multiple Paul Harris fellow who worked on the organizing committee for the 50th and 100th anniversary celebrations. A strong believer in community service, Keith was also a long-serving member of the Metropolitan United Church where he tirelessly volunteered at charity events and distributed hospitality meals.
Keith and Pauline were fortunate to travel to Florida for many winters as well as they took trips to Israel, Hawaii, Alaska and the Caribbean. In fact, so intrepid was this couple, that at the age of 80 they drove a van half-way across Canada, stopping in to visit their many friends along the way. Keith was a huge sports fan, a lover of late-night peanut butter sandwiches, a fine wine maker, a bridge player and a wonderful provider of cottage holidays for his entire clan who happily gathered on the shores of various lakes for 30 years.
We will miss him so.
In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to the Rotary Club of London Foundation.
To celebrate Keith’s life, a service will be held on April 20 beginning with visitation at noon, followed by a 1 p.m. service and a reception afterward at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James Street.

Sympathies message

  1. So many memories and so lucky to have Keith in my life for as long as I did. I feel like I’m missing a prong of my anchor . . . he had such a stabilizing effect on so many of us, as his principles and direction in life never, ever wavered. Family first. Always. When you marry into a family you never really know what you’re going to get — I was/am immensely lucky!
