Julia Strickland

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Julia Strickland announce her passing at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL on Friday, July 20th, 2018 at the age of 86 years. Born in Cul De Sac, NL. Julia was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Kathleen Sarah Green (nee Skinner). She was also predeceased by her husband Lloyd Strickland in 1975; father and mother-in-law George and Marjorie Strickland (nee Scott); step-mother-in-law Catherine Strickland (nee Collier); two infant children Monford and Paulette; sisters Leah (Enoch) Prosser, Annie (Freeman) LaFosse, Rita (Sandy) Durnford, Edna LaFrense; brothers Freeman (Dulcie) Green, Garfield (Effie) Green; brothers-in-law Willard Payne, Jack Strickland, and sister-in-law Ethel (Lori) Seymour.
She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Ethel (Roger) Skinner of Pasadena, NL, Wayne (Rayleen Sheaves) Strickland of Port aux Basques, NL, Marvin (Louise) Strickland of Isle aux Morts, NL; grandchildren Shawn of Fogo, NL, Trent (Michelle) of Fort McMurray, AB, Lloyd (Wendy), Jennifer both of St. John’s, NL, Chad (Karen) of Victoria, BC, Stacey (Malcolm) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; great-grandchildren Kaileigh, Logan, Makenna, Ellie, Jaxon; sisters Margaret Warford of Isle aux Morts, NL, Woodrow (Linda) Green of Port aux Basques, NL; brothers-in-law John Nelson LeFrense of Isle aux Morts, NL, Robert (Bob) (Annie) Strickland of Prince George, BC; sister-in-law Phoebe Payne of Port aux Basques, NL, and special caregivers who made Mom’s life comfortable, plus a large circle of nephews, nieces and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 21st from 7-9 pm and continuing on Sunday, July 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts, NL. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 23rd at 2 pm from the Holy Spirit Anglican Church in Isle aux Morts, NL officiated by Rev. Duncan Granter with interment to follow at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Isle aux Morts Road, NL. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in Julia’s memory can be made to the Holy Spirit Anglican Church.
