Obituary of Joyce Brookson
Brookson, (Evelyn) Joyce (nee Ashton) – At the age of 87, of Vineland, Ontario, passed away at her home on December 27, 2018. Born in Chatham, Ontario on January 27, 1931, Joyce was the only child of Mercy (Duke) and Carl Ashton. She graduated from Nursing at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London, Ontario in 1953.
Joyce leaves behind her beloved husband of 62 years, William “Bill”, children David, Dwayne (Monica) and Dianne (Albert), grandchildren Kayley (Darren), Aidan (Lauren), Meghan (Adam) and Halina. Family dear to Joyce include David, Joan, Chris, Melody, Owen, Hudson, Tara, Phil, Bryce, Brooke, Andrew, Lindsay, Kevin and Ethan. She is preceded in death by her sister-in-law Cheryl and daughter-in-law Shelley.
Joyce was a lovely and generous soul, gracious and caring for both family and friends. She enjoyed summers at the cottage in Bracebridge, square-dancing for 45 years, wintering in Florida, travelling to experience many parts of this world with friends, and a glass of Merlot.
A memorial service will be held at Vineland Chapel of Tallman Funeral Homes, 3277 King Street, Vineland, ON, at 11a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019. Reverend Anita Spiller will officiate. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to Vineland United Church, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity close to your heart.
