OBITUARY
Joseph Evans Donahue
March 28, 1946 – November 13, 2018
Joe passed away peacefully surrounded by love and compassion in An Calla Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on November 13,2018.
Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late John and Gert Donahue.
Among Joe’s many jobs were Municipal Ready Mix, Mail Carrier and the Town of Glace Bay. In earlier years Joe was an active member of the Kinsmen, Armeries, St. Anthony’s Mens club and Branch 12 Legion in Sydney. Joe also enjoyed playing darts, crib and horse shoes. He took great pride in preparing special treats, especially Birthday cakes for his two precious grandchildren Sahara and Dominick. Joe and his late wife Loretta were the King and Queen of hospitality at both their home in #11 and their bungalow in Mira, no one left their home without a treat in hand. In the businesses of life Da always made sure to be my rock whenever I needed him.
Joe is survived by his son Troy(Donna); grandchildren Sahara and Dominick; sister Ann “Tenie” Donahue; Brothers Frank (Dodi),Robert(Ethel) and many special sister and brother in laws as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by wife Loretta(Turnbull) and brothers John and Tony.
In following Joe’s wishes cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home 71 Union St Glace Bay. Visitation will take place on Tuesday November 20,2018 from 1-3pm in Patten Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Palliative Care.
