A resident of London, formerly of Chatham, John passed suddenly at his residence on Saturday, January 6, 2018 in his 73rd year.
Son of the late Albert & Mary (nee Mihalic) Dittmer.
Father of Michael Dittmer of Chatham, Jon Ann & Dave Bennett of Toronto, Meaghan & Dan Balint of West Lorne & Kristyn Fishleigh of London.
Papa John to Bryar Jack Dittmer, Brenna Grace Dittmer, & Grandpa of Alexandria Bennett, Nicholas Bennett, Jonathon Bennett & Kristian Bennett and Olivia Balint.
Brother of Dana & Judy Dittmer of Chatham, Linda & Jose Pino of London, Allan Dittmer of Strathroy.
Predeceased by sister, Alanna Shepley, & uncle Frank Mihalic Jr.
Missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews & extended family.
John worked for Canadian Fram after 29 years of service and retired in June of 2017 from General Dynamics, London after 23 years as an Engineer on the team for designing military tanks & equipment. John was looking forward to seeing his sister Linda welcome her first granddaughter into the world, Ava Marie, expected in February. And moving back to Chatham to be closer to his family & grandchildren. He was an avid fan of music & hockey (Go Habs!) but especially devoted to Bryar & Brenna’s hockey.
In keeping with John’s wishes, a Private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date and cremation has taken place.
In memory of John, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or Charity of Choice.
