1956-2018
Suddenly at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on
Friday, January 5, 2018, of John Joseph McHugh, of Sea Cow Pond, age
61 years. Beloved husband to Joanne Mary (nee Hackett)
McHugh. Born at Alberton on February 23, 1956, he was the son
of Margaret (nee Morrissey) of the Rev. W.J. Phillips Residence,
Alberton, and the late Raymond McHugh, who predeceased him July
2017.
Cherished father to Holly (Donald) Matthews of Arlington,
P.E.I. and loving grandfather to Morgan. Dear brother to
Robert (Janice), of Sea Cow Pond, Joanne (Al) McHugh of Sea Cow Pond,
Debbie Thomas of Charlottetown, Joey of Sea Cow Pond, and Wayne of Sea
Cow Pond. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law,
Marion (Ronnie) Harper of Tignish, Harold Hackett of Tignish, Edward
Hackett of Tyne Valley, Wayne Hackett of Toronto, and Lisa Hackett
(Ricky Gaudet) of Tignish. He will be sadly missed by his
nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, friends and
acquaintances.
He was predeceased by his father Raymond McHugh, his father
and mother-in-law, Alfred and Freda (nee Nelligan) Hackett, a nephew,
Jake McCue, and a niece, Nicole Hackett Robertson.
Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home & Chapel,
Alberton. Visiting hours Sunday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Monday
morning from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass
at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Brendan Gallant, Celebrant. Interment
later in the Church cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, memorials to the IWK Children’s
Hospital, the Canadian Diabetes Association or to St. Simon and St.
Jude Building Fund would be gratefully appreciated.
