MONTGOMERY, John Herbert Mark Lawrence
1930 – 2018
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of John (Jack) Montgomery as a result of Multiple System Atrophy. Jack passed away peacefully on November 30th, 2018 at Trilogy Chartwell, Scarborough, at the age of 88. Born in 1930 to John Earnest and Norma Victoria Montgomery of Dundalk, Ontario. He is survived by his sister Babe Bunston (Bob). Predeceased are his sisters June Swift (Ted) and Norma Jean Hunter.
He will be sadly missed by his four children Donna McCallum, Darlene, Bruce and John (Pam) Montgomery and stepchildren Susan Guglietti (Brad predeceased) and Cindy St. George (Pierre).
Loved dearly by his grandchildren Jessica McCormick, Lauren McCallum (Victoria), Max, Madison and Jared Montgomery. Also very much loved by Michael Gugiletti (Paula), Lisa Giannou (Michael), Marc St. George (Sandra) and Nicole St. George (Greg). He had three darling great grandchildren Abigail, Nicholas and Dean. He was loved and will be missed by his sister-in- law Billie and sister and brother-in law Sylvia and John.
Long-time resident of Scarborough, Jack lead a very social life. He was a founding member and the first manager at the Tam Heather Curling Club where he made many life-long friends. He spent many happy times there curling, playing bridge and all the various social activities. He also met and married his bride Judy Montgomery there. They spent 33 cherished years together, travelling to many countries with their various friends and family. Jack also was a member of the Buzzer Fin and Feather Club in Myrtle, Ontario, where he spent time gaming and fishing with his buddies. He was a 25 year member of the Six Foot Bay golfing gang. In his later years, he was an original member of The Combined Probus club of Scarborough. He enjoyed golfing, the theatre, concerts and ballroom dancing. As a young man dancing at Balmy Beach was one of his favourite things. Jack was an accountant at DeHavilland Aircraft Co. and the University of Toronto and an employee of the TTC.
The family would like to extend thanks to all the staff that supported him with kind words and gestures (and tears at the end) throughout his stay at Chartwell Trilogy.
A Private Cremation will take place through McDougall & Brown Funeral Home – Scarborough Chapel. A celebration of life will take place at the Tam Heather Curling Club on Thursday December, 6th, 2018 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bladder Cancer Canada or a charity of your choice.
