OBITUARY
John Chapman
June 10, 1945 – March 11, 2018
John Chapman died peacefully on March 11, 2018 in Winnipeg at the age of 72.
John is survived by his wife Nancy, son Stephen, daughter Claire (Mathieu), grandchildren Chloe, Alice and Leo, and brother Robert.
John was born in Bristol, England. He served for 22 years in the Royal Marines, where his lifelong love of shooting began. John attended 32 Bisley Meetings where he had the distinction of winning the RM/RN Queens medal for shooting in 1982 and also won two NRA National Service Rifle competitions, the Stephens and the Standing. Nine of those Bisley trips were made as a member of the Canadian Team. He was a member of four Prairie Province teams to Bisley and Captain of three of them.
John moved to Canada in 1989 with his wife and two children, where he began a second career as a Civil Servant, working in the School Immunization Program.
John retired in June 2005, but kept busy as ever. He is Past President of the Manitoba Rifle Association and a Life Governor of the Association. John also served on Council and Executive of the Dominion of Canada Rifle Association.
The family would like to extend its sincere thanks to the staff at the Grace Hospital for their dedication and support.
A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, March 20th, at 2:00 pm at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway.
