1940-2018
John A. “Jack”
Hollis, 78 years of age, of Springhill, passed away
suddenly on Thursday, May 24, 2018, doing what he loved most in this
world, fishing. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late
Almer & Margarite “Mutt” (Terris)
Hollis.
Jack lived all his life on Athol Road,
Springhill. He apprenticed under Bud Knowlton and went on to
own his own garage where he was well-known for his auto body repair
services. After he sold his business he would still tinker
around in his garage fixing and building his own and
friends’ vehicles up to the day of his
passing.
Poison Lake was Jack’s happy
place and was known as the unofficial “mayor” of the
lake. It was here that Jack treasured spending many hours
fishing, watching wildlife, biking, playing 45’s, a polka or
two and many stories told with the governor close by. His
happiest times were spent at Poison Lake with Dorothy and great
friends, Trish and John Stewart. Jack loved time spent with Marla and
Kevin enjoying great food, good wine, lots of laughs, meeting new
friends and exploring new adventures.
Jack will be sadly missed by his loving
companion, Dorothy Martin, Odie his pet, daughters Marla (Kevin)
Chapman of Rothesay, NB , Cinda (Steve D’Entremont) Willigar
of Truro, NS, son Roger (Tanya Hatfield) of Springhill, NS, sisters
Bev (Dave) Wood and Dorothy (Russell) Thompson all of Oxford, several
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and
nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased
by his brother Ralph.
Arrangements are under the care and
direction of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5
McFarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361). The family will receive
visitors on Monday, May 28, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. No funeral
service by request. Private committal to take place at a later
date.
Should friends desire, memorial
contributions may be made to the L.A. Animal Shelter, Carma or the
