Joan Rogers 2018

Obituary Overview
Joan Rogers
With her family by her side, Joan Rogers (nee Revoy), slipped away peacefully on November 28, to join her husband of 61 years, the late Albert (Bert) Rogers, to be together forever. Joan was born in Frankford, Ontario, the youngest daughter of the late John and Beatrice (Smith) Revoy and predeceased by her 12 brothers and sisters. Joan married her longtime sweetheart Bert, on July 6, 1957 in Frankford. Always a hard worker, she moved from the local canning factory to work with Bert, at the Bata Shoe Company in Batawa, where they started their family and she left the work force. They moved on to Verona, and Kingston, and finally put down strong roots in Westbrook. Joan was very proud of their home, and the large vegetable gardens which both her and Bert planned, keeping the family supplied throughout the winters. She loved country music, and one of her fondest memories was seeing George Jones live. Over the last few years, she spent many hours listening and singing along to his songs. Family was always very important to Joan, evidenced by the weekly Sunday dinners and holidays, with more and more chairs added as the years went by. Joan was a hands-on Grandma / Nana / Gammie, who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. When they came by, she was happy to get down on the floor to play, go for walks to the Country Store for a treat, play dolls, trucks, store, board games, all with lots of hugs and cuddles included throughout. She was there for most first steps, at every Christmas concert, and spent hours talking with them. Joan loved to bake for family and friends, including the teachers at Holsgrove Public School who looked forward to sampling her butter tarts, cinnamon buns and date squares.
Joan is survived and will be missed by her children, Vicky (Richard) Taylor, Tom (Patti) Rogers and Carl (Susan) Rogers, and grandchildren Lisa Timms, Chris (Sherri) Taylor, Lesley Taylor, Amber (Zach Smith) Rogers, Braedan Rogers, Carlee Rogers, and great-granddaughters Madeline Timms, Alora Cunliffe and Keira & Bree Taylor.
A special thank you to the wonderful care provided to Joan by the staff on Parkside 2 at Providence Care Hospital, Dr. Quinlan, Kelly Garrett, staff at St. Elizabeth, VON and Southeast LIN.
Friends will be received at GORDON F. TOMPKINS FUNERAL HOME (TOWNSHIP CHAPEL) 435 Davis Drive on Sunday December 2, 2018 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Joan Rogers 2018..
