Obituary of Jean Downie
DOWNIE, Jean Elizabeth (Loveday) of Cairo passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Four Counties Health Services, at the age of 85. Jean was the beloved wife of Allan Downie for 60 years; loving mother of Dave (Pam) of Cairo, Kathy (John) Geerts of Watford and Trish (Mario) Piccinin of Kitchener. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren – Peter, Nathan (Kassy) and Drew Downie; Tammy Geerts; Beccy (Jason) Anderson; Kristina (Zack) Ikert; Meghan, Haley and Michael Piccinin and great grandchildren – Natalie Anderson, Grace Ikert and Mila Downie. Survived by her sister, Eva Handy, and brothers, Ken and Don (Carol) Loveday. Predeceased by her parents, William and Elizabeth Loveday; sister-in-law, Norma Loveday; brother-in-law, Murray Handy and niece, Brenda Handy. The family will receive friends at the Badder Funeral Home, 211 Elm Street, Bothwell, on Tuesday, May 29 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, May 30 at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Bothwell Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations (by cheque) to the Canadian Cancer Society; Emmanuel Christian Church, Newbury or Christians for Israel Canada would be appreciated. Special thanks to NP Terri Quayle, the healthcare team and kitchen staff at Four Counties Health Services for the wonderful compassion and special care during this difficult time.
