Life Story for
Jean- Paul Forget
It is with great sadness the family of Jean-Paul Forget, age 66, of Fort Frances Ontario announces his passing on Monday October 8, 2018 at the La Verendrye Hospital, Fort Frances, Ontario.
Paul Forget is survived by his wife Anne Forget, children Joelle Forget (spouse John), Rozanne Flatt (partner Mike), and Glenn Flatt (spouse Michelle). He is also survived by sisters Susan Evans (spouse Cheryl), Angelle Forget-Bowlden (spouse Colin predeceased), Jeanne Forget, Giselle Forget, mother Yolande Hosak, and grandchildren Jami, Blake, and Tyler Kilty. He is predeceased by his brother Joel Forget and father Marcel Forget.
Paul’s love of the outdoors started as a young boy and he would talk fondly of camping trips in the Sudbury area. He learned to love canoeing and fishing at a young age and his future outdoorsman skills were honed by many trial and errors on these early trips.
After college, and a trip out to the West Coast, the north brought him back and he enjoyed working with various telecommunications companies in Northern Quebec and Ontario. His favourite job was with Bell Canada when he would fly into the camps in the Pickle Lake area to do repairs on radios.
Paul loved to “rough it” in the woods, but this was not loved by all members of the family. Paul would be disappointed if someone preferred a groomed campsite to an unmapped road leading to the middle of the bush.
His legacy in Fort Frances will be defined by the creation of his beloved Pickle Ball league.
Paul and Anne loved to travel together. Their trips took them to Arizona, Costa Rica, Asia, Spain, Canada, and Mexico, where Paul would never turn down a happy hour with the many friends they made along the way.
His passing has left holes in our hearts, but our memories of him will never fade away.
A service of celebration and remembrance will be held in Paul’s memory on Saturday October 20, 2018 from 1-3p.m. at the Fort Frances Royal Canadian Legion. If desired memorial donations may be made to the Tamarack House in Paul’s memory/o Northridge Funeral Home, Box 89, Emo, ON P0W 1E0. Online condolences may be offered at www.northridgefuneralhome.com
HE’S ON HIS WAY
In his quiet way, he attracted us all
Careful in thought and standing so tall
He may be gone and we’re so sad today
But his job is done and he’s on his way
To a better place, where the pain is no longer
Leaving fond memories, of fun, laugh and wonder
We will think of him often and the good times we had
When he’s on our mind, we could never be sad
