Obituary of James Notley
James “Jim” Notley, age 81, of Cowan Place, formerly of Green Hill, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Bournemouth, England, he was the son of the late Horace and Eve (Allwork) Notley.
Jim was a draftsman with British Air Plane Company and after moving to Canada was employed by Canadair as a fabrication technician. Following that, he moved to Pictou County where he was employed at Michelin Tire for over 20 years until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening and was past treasurer of the Westville Garden Club. An avid airplane enthusiast, he was a member of Northumberland Radio Control Modelers. Jim also took a keen interest in the S.P.C.A. often providing them with donations and gifts.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 59 years Maureen; daughter Paula Gillespie (John Murchison), New Glasgow; son Mike, Greenhill; 2 grand-daughters Emma Fraser (Jason) and Taylor Gillespie (Daniel); sister Pamela Cutler, England; nephews Christopher and Nicolas. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Bill Gillespie.
His family will receive visitors on Friday June 29 from 3-5 pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. There will be no funeral service by request. Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Pictou County S.P.C.A. or the Canadian Cancer Society.
