James Jim Lohnes 2018

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my beloved husband Jim Lohnes on Jan. 19th, 2018 in Maple Ridge. Born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia March 2nd, 1948. Within a few months of his birth, his father drove his family across Canada to settle in Maple Ridge. He is survived by his loving wife, Val and their son Trevor (Nicole) and their children; granddaughter Shelby (10), granddaughter Kayley (8), and grandson Kesler (6). They will always remember his delicious waffles, pancakes and treats. Their son, Kevin, their daughter Charlene Johnson (Stu), his sister Wendy (Le), and their children Michael (Krissy), Catherine (Frank), brothers in law Dave Cobb (Maggie), Ron Cobb (Laurie), sisters in law Gerda Knuff (Bill) and Gabrielle Krause. Predeceased by his parents Warren and Peggy Lohnes and his brother David Lohnes as well as his brothers and sister in law Monica (Darcy) Blomquist and Randy Cobb. There are also many many treasured friends, nieces, nephews, adopted grandchildren and relatives back east that are all remembered. We will all miss him dearly for the rest of our lives.
Jim was a long time resident of Maple Ridge where he sold Real Estate for years. His love of music led him to belong to the Gentleman of Fortune Barbershop Chorus for many years. In retirement he enjoyed singing with the Ridge Meadows singers and performing with Variety Plus at the Ecro Center.
For those who wish to join us, the interment will be February 2nd at 11am at the Maple Ridge Cemetery and the memorial will be at 2pm February the 3rd at Garden Hill Funeral Home – 11765 224 Street, Maple Ridge.

Sympathies message

  1. It is with sadness that I learned of Jim’s passing. Jim’s warm smiles always made me feel at ease and welcome. I remember it was so very touching to hear Jim sing to a room full of people at a Mothers’ Day celebration as everyone could tell it was a Love song to his wife.
Jim will always have a special place in my heart.
My sincere condolences to Val and her family.
    Micheline
