Ivena Jessie Briggs
Ivena J.
Briggs, 104, of Serenacare and formerly of Stilesville, passed away
peacefully at her residence on Friday, July 27, 2018. Born in
Stilesville, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Susan (Kelly)
Colpitts.
Ivena was a
member of Visions United Church (the former Stilesville United Church)
and a Life Member of the UCW. Ivena and Clarence were married in 1934
and worked on their mixed dairy and poultry farm and raised their
family until Clarence passed in 1966. She then went to work as a baker
and retired in 1979 from the Magnetic Hill Inn. She enjoyed gardening,
cooking, reading and berry picking, which she learned as a young girl.
Quilting was her true passion, working with applique blocks until the
age of 103. Her true pride was found in her
family.
Ivena will
be sadly missed by her daughters, Nellie Simpson (Bill) of Moncton and
Ellen Close (David) of Ammon; sons, Cecil (Lila) of Stilesville and
Lea (Viva), of Steeves Mountain; grandchildren, Laurie Trites, Peter
Briggs, Andrea MacNeill (Al), Sandy Belliveau (Mark), Darren
Dillenbeck (Michelle), Pam Simpson (Lee Dixon), Brian Simpson (Bana),
Kimberly Campbell (Dave), Tracey Douglas (Ian), Greg Wilson (Brian),
David Briggs (Sherry), Jason Briggs (Kim), Tricia Koenig (Christian),
Stephen Close (Kate), Joanna Close (Jordan), Emily Close (Dylan); 24
great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren and several
nieces, nephews and extended family
members.
In addition
to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Briggs
(1966); great grandson, Christopher; sister, Alice and brother,
Albert.
Visitation
at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on
Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A Service to celebrate and honour
Ivena’s life will be held from Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel
on Monday, July 30, 2018 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Dr. Shawn Redden
officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following
the service. Interment will be in Stilesville
Cemetery.
