Ivan Phineas Smith, age 87, of St. Marys passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the St. Marys Memorial Hospital. Son of the late Victor Smith and the former Annie Barker. Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Smith (nee Kendrick). Loved father of Debra Prikken (Andy), Barbara Graham (Gary), Karen Payton (Bernard), Kathryn Petrie (Paul) and Kevin Smith. Proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Survived by his brothers Wendall, Winston (Donna) and Allison (Jean), his sisters, Wonetta Taylor and Phyllis Street (Larry). Predeceased by his son David (1956), brothers Wayne, Bryant, William, Elwood, Daryll, Maxwell, David and Robert and his sisters Nellie Mae Grudzinski, Eleanor Currah and Gwendolyn. Ivan will also be fondly remembered by the Kendrick and Pfrumter families. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Monday, December 31, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception. A private family interment will take place in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford.
