It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Inge Mayr, beloved mother and grandmother, on October 3rd, 2018. Predeceased by son, Tony and husband Lui. Survived by daughters Anita (Alfie), Shirley (Ray), Ursula (Dean), sisters Erna (Bertl) and Herta (Ed), and grandchildren Nicole, Rachelle, Nicholas, Roxanne, Chelsea, nephew Ernie (Charlotte) and many other nieces and nephews.
Born in Austria on October 19, 1938, Inge immigrated to Canada at age 17, where she met the love of her life Lui, in Kitimat and soon after settled in Victoria. They built a nurturing home for their four children; family and friends were always welcome for a good time. Inge worked hard contributing to numerous successful businesses, including construction, horticulture and at the golf centre.
Home and garden were Inge’s passions, but her main love was her family, who she cherished more than anything. Cooking, baking and hosting, Inge was the driving force behind every gathering. Excited to travel with her loved ones, road trips to Vegas, cruises to Alaska, and trips back to her homeland brought her much joy. Her laughter, gentle spirit, love and appreciation for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Our sincere thanks to all of the doctors and nurses who were so kind and caring to mom.
A Memorial Reception will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, on Saturday, October 27th, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Celebrant Jim Lauder.
