Ina Adele “Jean” Sharpe (Nee Rush)
Jean, fondly known as Sis to her family, was born in Rush’s General Store in Peers, Alberta on October 31, 1940. She passed surrounded by family on October 6, 2018 in Edmonton, Alberta.
Predeceased by her father James Arthur Rush and mother Ina Forsythe Rush. Survived by her husband of 55 years, Ronald Henry Sharpe, daughters Leanne King (Nigel) and Carrie Sharpe. Grandchildren Alexandria Lake (Robin), Mikaela King (Brian Johansen), Calum Evans, Brynn Evans, and Cameron King. Brother James Rush (Margaret), many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jean lived in Peers until moving to Edson for high school, and then to Edmonton to attend MacTaggart Business College. She worked for Western Mack Truck, Done-Rite Floors and Wawanesa Insurance as a bookkeeper for a total of more than 35 years.
Being surrounded by family and friends was always Mom’s greatest joy. She loved to go camping and fishing, especially at Bates Beach. She spent many days on the golf course, enjoyed collecting recipes, and could often be found at her sewing machines. Grandma particularly loved to make Halloween costumes for her girls and grandchildren. If she could sew a bag for something, she did, from the mugs in their fifth wheel to dining table leaves!
Christmas was very special, and Jean’s tree was legendary. She was especially proud of her collection of ornaments and other Christmas decor, and for many years hosted a delicious Christmas Brunch for their friends.
