Obituary of Hiram Chaulk
CHAULK
Hiram George (Ike)
July 19, 1920 – August 18, 2018
We are saddened to announce the death of our father, Hiram—best known as Ike— Chaulk, who passed away peacefully at Corner Brook Long Term Care on August 18, just a month after his ninety-eighth birthday. He had lived in Corner Brook since moving from Notre Dame Bay in 1952.
He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Myrtle (Perry), and his second wife, Maxine Arnold (Payne). With all his children living off the island and having lost our mother, he was adopted by Maxine’s family who treated him with great kindness and enriched the latter part of his long life in Corner Brook.
Left to mourn are his sister Minnie Anstey of Deer Lake, daughters Ruth and Yvonne of British Columbia, sons Bob and Dave of Nova Scotia, daughters-in-law Sandra of Stephenville and Mary Lou of Bridgetown, Nova Scotia, stepson Terry Arnold and stepdaughter Judy and husband Lorne Hancock of Corner Brook, along with a bountiful assortment of grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved him dearly.
He was a welcome addition to any social setting and was famed for his excellent memory and vast repertoire of yarns, from which he could be counted on to produce a suitable story for any situation or occasion.
A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, August 22 at 11 A.M. in the chapel at Fillatre’s Funeral Home at 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, Corner Brook.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to a charity of your choice.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Hiram
