Obituary of Henry Van Arkel
VAN ARKEL, Harrie “Henry”- It is with great sadness that we have to say goodbye to a loving husband, father and opa who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. Henry was the husband of the late Gerda (2011) for 51 years. Father of two daughters and two sons, Anne Marie Dalton (Neil), Sarnia, Laurette Kropp (Paul), West Kelowna, BC, Jerome Van Arkel (Patricia), Sarnia and Matthew Van Arkel (M’liss), Chatham-Kent. Henry was a proud opa to Emily, Rachel, Trinity, Dawson, Joel, Brooke, Melanna and Savana. Brother of Frank Van Beers (late Willie), Wardsville, John Van Beers (Judy), Goderich, Nellie Van Den Diepstraten (Andy), Bayfield, and Jane Van Den Diepstraten (John), California. Brother-in-law of Nettie Van Beers and Andy Van Loon. Predeceased by parents Laurentius & Caterina Van Arkel, brothers and sisters Adrian Van Arkel (Nelly), Jozef Van Beers, Ann Van Dooren (Joe), Frances Van Asseldonk (Martin) and Mary Van Loon. Henry was a dedicated volunteer with Habitat for Humanity for 5 years, logging 6228.5 hours and received the Habitat Lifetime Achievement Award. Friends will be received at Sacred Heart Church (corner Charlesworth & Lecaron) on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 10–10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church immediately following at 11 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, (519)344-3131.
