HELEN VAVOUGIOS
Passed away with family by her side on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the age of 87. Born in Saint Nicholas, Greece on August 6, 1931. Immigrated to Canada in 1954 and worked extremely hard to make a good life for her children whom she cherished. Beloved mother of James (Robert Cyr), Louis (Sandra Riches) and Betty Vavougios (Craig Harper). Was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas Vavougios. Grandmother of Helen, Nicholas (Stefanie), Sprios, Elenee and Russell. Great-grandmother of James. Predeceased by siblings Peter, Gregory, Sarantos and Nick. Leaves behind sisters Zoe and Maria. She will be remembered for her inexhaustible kindness and generosity. The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home – A.W Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East) on Monday, September 24, 2018 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Service in St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church, 115 Bond Street on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to either: Alzheimer Society of Toronto or Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church (27 Forsyth Street, New York, NY, 10002 – they will accept cheques in Canadian currency).
