It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Catherine Bell-Burt “Nellie” on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 in St. John’s, Newfoundland while surrounded by her loving and devoted husband Paul. Born on Thursday, December 22, 1938, in Bay De Verde, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (nee: Duggan) Riggs. Beside her husband Paul and sister of California, Josephine Riggs (Claps), she is survived by her immediate Bell family, Johnny (Karen), Jeani (Paul), Cathy (Todd) along with her extended Burt family, Carl (Donna), Gary (Beverley), Keith (Thelma), Scott (Dawn), and their families, a large circle of extended family and those who held the precious opportunity to recognize her as friend. Beside her parents Nellie, was predeceased by her first husband Paul Bell and son Paulie. In keeping with personal wishes cremation has taken place. The family invite you to join them at Carnell’s Funeral Home (329 Freshwater Road, St. John’s) on Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 2 – 4 PM and 7 – 9 PM. A service of thanksgiving will be celebrated from Carnell Memorial Chapel on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at 2 PM. Flowers graciously accepted or donations to a charity of donor choice will be forever appreciated.
