Passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Georgian Bay General Hospital, Midland. Pat Hastings of Wyevale, dear wife of Ross Hastings. Cherished mother of Cindy (Shayne Large) and Kirk (Penny Brake) all of Wyevale. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Alexis and Jonathan and step grandchildren Kaitlyn and Cole. Predeceased by parents Meryle and Homer Spring. Pat will be missed by her brother Barry (Brenda) Spring of Balm Beach and many friends near and far.
Despite suffering from many serious illnesses, Pat lived her life to the absolute fullest. She always volunteered her time and put her friends and family first. She travelled to many parts of the world including Russia, Greece, Wales, Ireland, Holland and Tuscany. She took her grandchildren to Paris and Spain for their grade 8 graduation gifts. She fulfilled her goal of hiking the entire Bruce Trail. She was accompanied by many great friends while camping, hiking, biking and kayaking both at home, in Florida and abroad. Pat and Ross enjoyed snowmobiling and the annual trip to the cottage with their good friends was infamous.
Everyone who knew Pat knew that she liked to have a plan. She has requested that there be no funeral. Her family will honour her wishes and host a Celebration of Life at the Tiny Township Community Centre, 91 Concession Rd 8 E, Tiny, on April 12th from 4 to 7 pm. A short service celebrating her life will start at 4 pm followed by food, refreshments and friendship. All are welcome to come and share their memories of Pat.
The Georgian Bay Cancer Support Centre was a huge part of Pat’s life and provided her with great support and many friendships. Donations to the GBCSC would be greatly appreciated by the family.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Georgian Bay General Hospital during the difficult time before Pat’s passing. Everyone did their best to advocate for Pat and provide comfort and support to her and her family over the last few weeks.
