Obituary of Gordon Morine
Gordon Herbert “Herby” Morine, Wolfville Ridge. Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend. Born 11 June 1937, Wolfville – Died 28 Nov 2018, Valley Regional Hospital. Son of Archibald Lawson & Ruth Alberta (Weatherbee) (Hiscoe) Morine.
Herby held many jobs over his 81 years, but he will be most remembered for, and be most proud of, the many years he was at the Willow Bank Cemetery as a worker, Director and Manager. He, also, was willing to try and give anyone a helping hand when he could.
All the children in the family and those of many friends (adults too) knew him as Santa Claus. Something that brought him great joy.
Herby is survived by wife of 57 years Georgina “Diana” MacLeod; daughter Catherine (Ian Collins) of Coldbrook and grandsons Kieran & Tristan Collins; daughter Jerri Lynn (Barry Davis) of Moberly Lake, BC and grandchildren Samantha, Mari & Peter Davis; brother Gary (Evelyn), sister Margaret (Kenneth) DeEll and brother-in-law Edward Atwell, all of Wolfville Ridge and sister-in-law Marilyn Morine of Forest Hill; sisters-in-law Brenda Robertson and Beverly Brown and brother-in-law David (Susan) Tabor. He was also survived by very many nieces and nephews, each one very special to him.
He was predeceased by sister Elizabeth Atwell; brothers William Morine, Earl Morine and Clifford Hiscoe; sisters Viola (Robert) Weldon, Gertrude (Robert) Kelly, Barbara (Walter) Kelly, Mable (Austin) Green and Eleanor Marr.
Thank you to all the wonderful Dr.’s especially Dr. M. Cornish, Dr. A. Gordon and Dr. A. Clark and his “Angel” Nurses who provided care for him in Medical A and ICU.
As per his wishes, a funeral will not be held at this time. A committal Service will be held in the Willow Bank Cemetery in the summer 2019. Memorial donations may be made to charity of your choice OR better still, take family or a friend out for a soft ice cream in his memory. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
