With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our father, brother, uncle and friend Gordon MacDonald, age 78, on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Bras d’Or, on February 20, 1940, Gordon was the son of the late John Robert and Helen Monica (Gracie) MacDonald. He worked for many years as a bus driver and custodian for the Northside Victoria School Board until his retirement. Gordon was an avid fisherman and hunter and a member of the Bras d’Or Wildlife. He was also a very good dart player and a member of the North Sydney & Sydney Mines Pensioners Club. He could often be found tinkering around in his garage.
Gordon is survived by his daughter Roxanne MacDonald, Sydney Mines, his son Roscoe “Ricky” (Heather) MacDonald, Alberta, his brother Billy (Beverley) MacDonald, Millville and their daughter Meaghan and her two children Lucas & Cooper and also his feline companion Middy.
Besides his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his wife Bernadette Ann (Jessome) and an
infant son Gordon.
The family would like to thank Dr. Marek Knott, nurses of 3B and Palliative Care Unit “An Cala” at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
There will be no visitation by request. A graveside committal will be held 11a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney, Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
