Obituary of Gertrude (Trudie) Robbins
Surrounded by the love of family and friends, Trudie passed away on July 10th, 2018 at the Sunshine Centre, Luther Village on the Park, at the age of 80, after a brief and courageous battle against cancer. Loving mother of Lynne Short (Gordon) and Christine Wilken. Special grandma to James and Kate Short. Dear sister to Myrla Frank (Nelson) and beloved aunt to nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Roy and Luella Robbins and her brothers Ralph and Donald Robbins.
Trudie was a loving mother, daughter, sister, grandma, aunt and friend. She was a retired teacher who enjoyed learning and sharing knowledge with those around her. Trudie was an active community member, volunteering throughout her life, including nearly 30 years with Grand River Hospital and at Parkminster United Church. She loved to travel, read a great book, play golf, and experience live music or theatre – all with family and friends. Trudie will be remembered for her willingness to help others, her determination and spirit, and her bright blue-eyed smile.
Family and friends are invited to share their memories of Trudie with her family during a memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South., Waterloo on Monday July 16, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A memorial service will be held at Forest Hill United Church, 121 Westmount Road East, Kitchener on Tuesday July 17, 2018 at 10:30 am with a reception to follow in the church hall. Cremation has taken place and a private burial will be held for family members. Condolences for the family and donations to Lutherwood or the Grand River Hospital Foundation may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
