In Loving Memory
87 years, passed away peacefully with family by his side on December 9, 2018. Reunited with his beloved wife of 65 years, Helen. Loving father of Karen Shelley (Rick), Bill Parent (Debra), Bob Parent (MeLoni), Janis Mann (Larry), Mary-Jo Morassut (Tars), Ron Parent (Charlotte) and Don Parent. Cherished Pepe to sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Predeceased by brothers Romuald (Elsie), Gerald (Emily), Harvey and sister Yvette Bulley (Bill). Dear brother of Gil (Rena), Jenine Halliday (Jerry), and Cecile Martins (Laverne). Shorty will be dearly missed by his best friend of many many years, Pat McKeon, and his constant companion, Dolly. Visitation will be held at MARCOTTE FUNERAL HOME 12105 Tecumseh Rd. Tecumseh 519-735-2830 on Tuesday December 11, 2018 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers at 4 p.m. Visiting will continue at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Dear Sir Knight, Brother Ron Parent (Charlotte) and Parent Family,
It is with deep sadness we hear of the news of the passing of your beloved father Knight Gerard “Shorty” Parent on Sunday, December 9, 2018. The news of his death came to our attention within a few hours after his passing. On behalf of Archbishop Denis O’Connor C.S.B., Knights of Columbus Council #14969 and our entire humble order, we extend our deepest and most sincere sympathies to you and your Family on the loss of your father, the patriarch of the Parent Family. We will have in the future a special Mass for deceased Brother Knights and/or family members of brother knights and will include him in this Mass. We will notify you when in the future this Mass will take place. The prayers, thoughts, and support of the entire Council will remain with you and your family during this most difficult time.
Let us pray
Holy Lord, almighty and eternal God,
hear our prayers for your servant Brother Knight Gerard “Shorty” Parent
whom you have summoned out of this world.
Grant him a place of refreshment, light and peace.
Let him pass unharmed through the gates of death
to dwell with the blessed in light.
Accept Gerard “Shorty” into your safe-keeping
and on the great Day of Judgment
raise him up with all the saints
to inherit your eternal kingdom.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Eternal rest grant onto him oh Lord and may perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.
