1921-2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Gerard McLaughlin
announce his passing on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the
Veteran’s Health Unit, Fredericton, NB. Born in Saint John,
NB on June 6, 1921, he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth
McLaughlin and husband of the late Mona McLaughlin.
Gerard enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army during the Second
World War. Post war he was employed by the electric power utility in
Saint John then NB Power in Moncton and Fredericton. Gerard
was a lifelong learner and Big Band fan of Glenn
Miller.
Survived by sons Paul (Dawn) and Edward James McLaughlin
(Valerie); grandchildren Christopher, Sarah, Katie and Victoria, as
well as great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and
cousins.
In addition to his parents and spouse, Gerard is predeceased
by brothers Joseph and Donald, as well as sisters Mary and
Jean.
By Gerard’s request, there will be no visitation or
funeral service. A graveside service will be held at the Hermitage
Catholic Cemetery on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 2 pm. Memorial
donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of
the donor’s choice.
