1938-2018
The death of Gerald Joseph Maranda occurred at the Saint John Regional
Hospital on Saturday, July 14th, 2018 at the age of 79. He will be
sadly missed by his family and friends.
Gerald was a very loving and friendly man. Born in Richibucto Village
on September 20th, 1938 he was the son of the late Albert and Emily
(Richard) Maranda.
He is survived by his siblings; Mary McCoy (Reg), Leona Thompson,
Maria Scott, Leon Maranda (Betty), Ivan Maranda (Suzanne), Ella
Maranda (Paul), Joe Maranda (Bonny); several nieces, nephews and
cousins; special niece and nephew, JulieAnn and Craig Maranda; special
great nephew, who he thought the world of, Brayden Maranda.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was predeceased by a niece, Roselle
Desrosiers.
Gerald went to work at the age of 16 in the coal mines. Later, he
worked as a pay loader operator for N.B Coal for more than 40 years.
He retired in his sixties.
Funeral service will be held 1:00PM Tuesday, July 17th, 2018 at the
Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Minto with Father David Fulton
officiating. Keeping with Gerald’s wishes, there will be no
visitation. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Heart
and Stroke Foundation in Gerald’s memory.
