Obituary of George Marshall
Marshall, George Arnold 87 of Bridgetown passed away April 25, 2018 in South Shore Regional, Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Clarence he was a son of the late Clyde and Gladys (Mailman) Marshall.
George began his career in the RCAF in 1948and worked up the ranks to Master Warrant Officer by his retirement in 1981. He served in Germany, France, USA, from Vancouver to Greenwood in Canada and also in Dar es Salem, Tanzania. After his retirement he helped with the Bridgetown Air Cadet Squadron. George loved his sports and was proud to be a lifelong Maple Leaf fan. Ha was an avid curler, and golfer to the end, fisherman and hunter. George is a member of the Bridgetown Hockey Hall of Fame. George and his wife Muriel (in their younger days) loved their time square dancing with friends. His monthly poker and bridge games with the boys were very special to him.
George was a founding member of the infamous Bridgetown Koffee Klub, and fund raised with the Big Bike Ride and Poppy Campaign for many years. He was active in the Royal Canadian Legion, Masons, Bridgetown Baptist Church, Lions and Order of Good Cheer. “Uncle George’ was always a favourite with his many nieces and nephews and organized many a party up on “Marshall Hill”. His grandchildren and great grandchildren loved him and will miss him greatly. Anyone that visited up on the hill will have enjoyed his home brew or homemade wine. He and Muriel loved their large garden behind the shop.
George is survived by sons: Bruce (Valerie) of New Germany and Bill (Aneda) of Phoenix, AZ., 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; sister Dorothy Rice of Bridgetown. He was predeceased by his wife the former Muriel Stuart Haase, brother Allan and sister Marion.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #33 will hold their service Monday at 6:30 p.m. and the Masonic Lodge will hold their service at 7:00p.m. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. all from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday from the Bridgetown Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Bridgetown. The family would like to express our thanks to the kind folks at the South Shore Regional Hospital where Dad spent his last days. Donations in George’s memory may be sent to the I.W.K.
