LOCKWOOD, George Leslie (Les)
June 19, 1946 – July 21, 2018
Passed away at his home in Acton surrounded by his family on Saturday morning July 21, 2018, in his 73rd year. After a two-year long battle with biliary cancer. Dad took his final stand in his garage (his man cave), the place he loved the most. Dad, known for his big contagious smile and loud distinctive laugh, will forever be remembered and his story will continue to be told. Beloved husband of Karen (nee Mudge) for 46 years. Cherished father to Leisa (Chris) Chorzepa, Mark (Rasha), Shaun (May’ling), and Craig (Brittany). Treasured grandfather to Logan, Aydyn, Alivia and Brooklyn. Dearly loved by his siblings, Fern (late Murray), Murray (Lucille), Shirley (Victor), Doreen, late Melvin (Kauleen), late Ellen (late George), Linda (Ray), David (Eneke), Ken, Betty (Cliff), Larry (Kathe), late Archie, Marlene (Wayne) and adored by numerous nieces and nephews.
To Dad’s friends of Acton. Dad has requested to be cremated and no services are to be rendered. His only request is that you enjoy a backyard BBQ with friends and reminisce with stories and memories that you have of him. Dad loved Acton. This town welcomed him with open arms when he wandered into it 55 years ago. He felt at home here from the moment he rolled in. Dad and his hometown buddy camped out in his car for the first two weeks at Prospect Park; before they were both able to land jobs. In Dad’s final week before he passed, he made a music set of some of his favourite tunes. If you would like to listen to it, search ‘LES LOCKWOOD’s Garage Hits’ on Spotify.
To Dad’s friends at Dufferin. Dad gave his life to Dufferin Aggregates for 50 years. He got almost every one of his brothers, friends and his oldest son a job there. Dufferin has provided the life blood for this family and we honour you for giving Dad purpose, stability and secure income for so many years. Dad, your job is done. The family would like to honour and thank RN Jericho Lee (our home nurse), Dr. Ivan Hunter (of Milton), Acclaim Health, Cancer Assistance Services Halton (CAShh) and Georgetown Hospital. Without your help, we would not have been able to make Dad as comfortable as he was, nor would he have been able to stay at home, as he wished. We are forever in your debt.
In lieu of flowers, donations and such, we request all donations of time, money and equipment be given to Acclaim Health and Cancer Assistance Services Halton (CAShh). So others who suffer Cancer will have the opportunity to get the assistance that we so graciously received. Thank you so much.
