Francis Bernard McVeighwas born on October 29th 1949 in Inverness, Nova Scotia. Oldest of 6 children to Robert McVeigh and Louise McVeigh (Lefort).
Frank was briefly in the Canadian Armed Forces before attending Dalhousie University. He married his wife of almost 46 years, Rebecca (Trask), on August 5th 1972 in Digby, Nova Scotia.
They moved to northern Manitoba where he became a nickel miner and began his trade apprenticeship as an electrician. There, in Thompson Manitoba, they began their family. Having their first son Patrick Shawn McVeigh in 1975 then Michael James McVeigh in 1978. The family moved back to Nova Scotia for a time before he started working for Ontario Hydro in 1981.
Frank took the family to Deep River, Ontario, for his training with Ontario Hydro, then to Kincardine where he worked at the nearby nuclear power plant. When a new nuclear plant opened in Darlington, Frank moved the family to live in the hamlet of Castleton, east of Cobourg.
Frank kept his roots to the east coast, bringing his family home at least once a year. He enjoyed travelling, going to Cuba, Mexico, Europe, the Caribbean and Alaska. He re-created the landing of the Irish by taking a trans-Atlantic cruise with Rebecca, from Europe to the New World. He guided and assisted his sons Patrick and Michael as they grew up, serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Toronto Police Service respectively.
Frank retired in 2007 from Ontario Hydro, settling in Grafton, Ontario with Rebecca. Frank took up golf, enjoyed photography and investigating his family tree. He spent as much time as he could with his granddaughter Kaylin and his wife, while tending his roses and working in his gardens.
He enjoyed ten years of retirement with Rebecca until he got ill. At 68 years of age Frank passed away on Sunday June 24th 2018 while being treated at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto.
Frank leaves behind a thankful and loving wife, Rebecca, sons Patrick and Michael, granddaughter Kaylin McVeigh, grand dog Wren, his mother Louise, brothers Kevin, Stephen, Richard and sister Mary, father in law Arnold Trask, sister in law Karen and her husband Ben Cleveland .
Nephews Ian, Adam, Brent, Jacob, Justin, nieces Bethany and Sarah.
Pre-deceased by his father Robert, brother Robbie, mother in law Mildred Trask (Rafuse) and sister in law Marcia Trask.
