DESBIENS, Fernand “Fern”
Peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 28th, 2018 at the age of 87 years. Son of the late Lionel Desbiens and Marie-Louise (née Dionne) Desbiens. Beloved husband of 62 years to Bernadette (née Fortin) Desbiens. Loving father of Lorraine Lacroix (Armand), late Claude Desbiens (Linda), Lucien Desbiens (Denise), Roger Desbiens (Lorelie), Sylvia Moore (Grant) and Hélène Helmes (Kyle). Cherished grandfather of Denis, late Rachelle, Anna, Danielle, Melissa, Luc, Allen, Jo-Anne, John, Jennifer, Christina, Leah, Sarah and great-grandfather of 13. Dear brother of Rose Duval . Predeceased by his sisters Juliette Courtemanche and Rita Landry. Fern worked for CP Rail for 39 years, where he developed a passion for trains. He enjoyed playing cards, camping and fixing cars. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 4691 R.R. 15, Chelmsford on Friday, June 1st, 2018 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St-Joseph Church, Chelmsford. Donations can be made by cheque or online to the Northern Cancer Foundation.
